Qualimax MX-9 discolite
WOW. This is one big black ghettoblaster, with 8 speakers and tons of disco lights. It probably came out in the late 1980's. There's another version called the Giant HK-900 Disco-Lite, but both of them are very rare. The size is massive: 30.5 inches wide, 15.5 inches tall, and 6.75 inches deep. It can be split into 4 pieces: the left and right speakers (which contain 1 woofer and 2 tweeters each), and the bottom section which contains "Super Double Woofers". This section has its own power switch and volume controls.
Discolite boomboxes were usually low quality, and this one is no exception. But it's still massive and cool, and it's loaded with features: Continuous Play, Fader control, Recording Level controls, and High-Speed Dubbing. Most of these controls are located behind a clear "door" on the front, as shown in the photos below:
Along the bottom, you see two "Super Double Woofers". This section has its own power switch, left and right volume controls, and a spare tape compartment at both corners:
This boombox is powered by ten D-cells, but it can also run on 110 or 220 volts AC. On the back, it has both Line In and Line Out jacks.
